In major cities and towns, tap water is generally safe to drink. Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, and other urban centers maintain good water quality standards. In rural or remote areas, however, it’s better to drink bottled water or boil tap water before consumption. Bottled water is widely available, affordable, and safe. It’s also a good idea to carry a reusable water bottle if you’re traveling environmentally consciously.
